On June 6, 2015 the Farmworker Association of Florida sadly announced the passing of Linda Lee's 25-year old granddaughter.
"Chrysantheum Ashley passed away on Saturday, May 30th leaving behind 3 young sons, ages 3, 5, and 6. Linda Lee, 62-years old, will now be responsible for raising her 3 great-grandsons, as well as her 2 granddaughters, because, tragically, Linda's daughter, Amanda Swift, died less than a year and a half ago....Both died from complications from Lupus, a debilitating auto-immune disease that disproportionately impacts people of color. Linda, herself, has Lupus."
On March 18, 2011, the National Institute for Health released a report that scientist Christine G Parks of NIEHS found that frequent or extended exposure to pesticides may increase risk of developing Lupus. (Vol. LXIII, No. 6)
